Can You Help Oaklands College Create A Garden Centre?

Donate unwanted items to the St Albans college for its garden centre plans

A PLOT of land at Oaklands College in Smallford could be developed into a new garden centre with the help of local people.

The Habitat Centre, which is home to a number of animals and wildlife, opens up to local schools as an educational day centre.

Last week the Review reported how pupils from Fleetville School had a day out at the centre based at the Hatfield Road campus, where they were able to learn all about the animal kingdom and their habitats.

Just outside the room where the animals are housed, the college is hoping to create a pond and garden centre for the use of the local community, however, are in need of a helping hand.

They are hoping local garden centres will be able to donate spare equipment so the project can get up and running.

The Habitat Centre is appealing for items just as bird tables, plants for the wildlife pond, picnic tables or even old tractor tyres.

Do you think you can help them out? If so you can contact the centre manager Penny Hounsome by emailing penny.hounsome@oaklands.ac.uk.
